For the second straight year, Brentwood Academy walked into a neighborhood fight with the Bruins… and walked out the big brother.

Quarterback Crews Jenkins was in complete command, tossing three touchdown passes on 14-of-17 efficiency, while running back Larry Sanders bulldozed his way to 186 rushing yards and two scores. "The Killer B's"- Lex Baskin and Kesean Bowman- pulled down 3 highlight level TD catches. The Eagles’ offense rolled up nearly 400 yards and controlled the game from start to finish in a 45–21 victory Friday night at Brentwood High School's James Parker Stadium.

Big Strikes, Big Leg

BA landed the first three punches—Jenkins hit Bowman for a score, then connected with Baskin from 36 yards out, while Sanders slipped in a short TD run. And then… enter Tommy Bauchiero.

The senior kicker ripped a 58-yard field goal that would make an NFL crowd gasp. This one might have been good from 70. Last year, he booted a 59-yarder, tied for fourth all-time in the TSSAA record books. Friday’s bomb now sits at fifth, cementing Bauchiero’s legacy as one of Tennessee’s most dangerous special teams weapons. He added six touchbacks on seven kickoffs, averaging 61 yards a pop.

Bruins’ Flicker of Hope

Down 24-0, Brentwood finally sparked late in the second quarter. Quarterback Gavin Strang led a 15-play, 80-yard grind, finishing with a 27-yard strike to Parker Emerson. After a sudden BA fumble, the Bruins struck again—Strang to Junior star wideout Jones Merrill from 22 yards. In a flash, the deficit was trimmed to 24-14 and suddenly there was bedlam in the Bruin's House.

But it wouldn’t last.

Eagles Clamp Down

The second half belonged to BA’s defense. Kenneth Simon came off the edge like a storm—two sacks in one series, then a momentum-swinging interception. That sequence set up Sanders’ second rushing score as BA slammed the door.

Jenkins added a third touchdown toss to Bowman, while Wyatt Leudtke popped loose for a 20-yard scoring run. By early in the fourth quarter, the Eagles had stretched it to 45-14.

Brentwood scraped together one last drive—12 plays, 80 yards, capped by Emerson hitting Smith Helm from two yards—but the outcome was long decided.

Sanders: 186 rushing yards, 2 TDs
Bowman: 2 touchdown receptions
BA Defense: sacks from Simon, Brody Belville, Roman Jennings

The victory pushes BA’s edge in the neighborhood series to 7–1. The Bruins’ lone win came a year ago.

What’s Next

Brentwood (1–1) gets a key Region 6-6A matchup at home next week against Summit. Brentwood Academy (2–0) turns its eyes toward a heavyweight Division II-AAA showdown—hosting unbeaten Baylor.

Final: Brentwood Academy 45, Brentwood 21.
