We walked by a local Nashville skate park, during one of my high school senior portrait shoots for Indy student Laura. A group of super athletic and talented skaters were hanging out and I had the idea to ask the guys if anyone could jump over my senior. One of the kids said yes... and it was on...

Day was quickly and relentlessly turning into night. That is the kiss of death for most photographers- who have to wrap up the shoot and talk about the possibilities of what might have been.

I set up 3 lights and then started working with Laura on some simple posing. The trick was making sure she felt super safe around the skater and she was more than up for the adventure. After the skater hit a few jumps- with plenty of room to spare- I asked him to "ninja" his arms out on the next jump...

BAMMM!

All three of us nailed it. That perfect moment when it all comes together. The joy of mastering lighting is that you can create anywhere at anytime and let my talented subjects shine in their gifts.
